Our Services

ServicesAn End-to-End Range of Network Services.

Working with Sky Communications frequently means you enjoy a single point of contact for your entire project. We have a wide range of specialties and in-house capabilities that allows us to take on full responsibility for projects, including ongoing maintenance.

We work within agreed Service Level Agreements that mean you don’t get any nasty cost surprises.

In our experience, working with Sky Communications reduces clients’ deployment costs and time to complete the project.

Our services include:

  • Cellular systems
  • Digital transmission systems
  • Microwave systems
  • Broadcast systems
  • Network back haul
  • Wimax and Wifi
  • Fibre networks
  • Network infrastructure design
  • Wireless communications
  • Stadium and building wiring
  • Civil works

Within these services, we bring a number of specialties to bear:

Frequency / Spectrum Planning

Analyse appropriate technical support programs for engineering and electromagnetic compatibility, identify procedures needed to plan, develop, and specify computer hardware and software for a computer-aided national spectrum management system, develop regulatory plans for new or expanded radio services, as well as potential improvements in existing processes,

Transmission Planning

Include analysing data loads (current and forecast, including seasonal loads); managing expansion plans, including staged development, targets for adequacy, security and reliability, environmental impacts, cost, ease of operation and maintenance, transmission margins and inter-regional capacity, enhancement feasibility, identifying weak areas, and other issues.

Network Site Design

Includes topological design, network-synthesis and network-realisation, to ensure subscriber and operator needs are fully met. Planning encompasses, business planning, short-, medium- and long-term network planning, IT asset sourcing and operations and maintenance.

Earthing Design

Earthing design protects telecommunications networks against lightning and reduce noise levels in everyday operations. Good design takes into account variations in soil resistivity and earth resistance, among other factors.

Project Management

We work to stringent industry standards, including IEEE and best practice principles, to ensure every project is delivered on time and within budget. We use professional facilitation (IAF) techniques, professional engineering (PE and IEEE), and standard project management (PMI-PMP). Our processes are designed to give customers visibility of their program of works. Projects managed range from large scale deployments in Australasia, Asia, North and South America, Africa and Europe.

Typical project management tasks include:

  • Feasibility and Preliminary Costing
  • Contractor and Vendor Auditing
  • Preparation of Specification and Tender Documents
  • Tender Evaluation
  • Project Planning
  • Measurement of Quantities and Preparation of Variations
  • Validating Work in Progress
  • Quality Validation
  • Project Closure and Review

Site Acquisition, Building Consent and RMA

We provide a complete site acquisition service that encompasses site selection (based on maximum possible coverage for the least cost), leasing, title and zoning issues, resource consents (including meeting filing deadlines and hearing dates), right of way agreements, and negotiating the intricacies of New Zealand’s Resource Management Act. To speed up the RMA process we use digital imaging to provide an accurate representation of a completed mast, antenna or dish installation.

Site Management

Preparation of the physical site in readiness for the tower build, followed by cell tower maintenance. Mast Design, Fabrication and Erection

Fibre Termination and Testing

Joining lengths of optical fiber is more complex than joining electrical wire or cable. We design, build and maintain fibre networks for high capacity data delivery across everything from entire networks to specific building environments. Specialties include Fibre to the Premise (FttP), Cabinet (FttC) and Home (FttH). We also carry out regular fibre optic testing and deliver reliably supported services based on quality and consistent network installations. We observe all fibre testing standards.

SDH/PDH network deployment

We manage all the issues connected with network deployment, including access and transport networking, internet and data networks, provisioning systems and technical support.

Equipment Supply

We have access to all major manufacturers.

Commissioning

Configuration, verification and testing of all network elements prior to going “live”.

Maintenance (24/7)

We provide a 24 hour, 7 day callout response, delivered by technicians on rostered standby. A call centre manages callout response, and a single point of contact is provided via an 0800 number.
